Operation Roam leads to the arrest of a wanted fugitive more than 4200km away from where he allegedly indecently assaulted children and assaulted several people.

One of the targets on Australia’s list of wanted fugitives was arrested more than 4200km away from where he allegedly indecently assaulted children and assaulted several people.

Dane Gregory Moore, 41, had allegedly been on the run for three years after an arrest warrant was issued for him by Port Macquarie Police in 2013.

After information was received about Moore, who was one of 19 targets featured in Operation Roam: Fugitive Hunt, he was arrested at a property in the Western Australian town of Pinjarra.

Operation Roam: Fugitive Hunt – an annual Crime Stoppers Australia campaign – was launched to help track down wanted people via the exchange of information between policing jurisdictions across Australia.

Police used social media to seek information from the community about a number of alleged offenders who may have left their state or territory and are now residing interstate.

As part of the operation, the details of a 41-year-old wanted man were circulated by virtue of an arrest warrant.

Operational Communications and Information Commander, Assistant Commissioner Peter Barrie said the arrest in Pinjarra represented the national joint effort between Crime Stoppers, police and the wider community.

“This arrest and the operation as a whole, demonstrates how we are all working together – with the support of the wider community – to achieve a common goal of capturing wanted people across the country,” he said.

“Crime Stoppers has shown that even the most seemingly insignificant piece of information can prove pivotal to solving a crime or locating a wanted person.”
