At around 10.25am on Monday 9 September 2024, the victim was standing near the ferry terminal at Elizabeth Quay with his iPhone held to his ear while speaking to someone. Without warning the iPhone was snatched out of the victim’s hand by a man who ran off with the iPhone. When the man realised the victim was chasing him, the man threw the iPhone into the water and continued running and disappeared towards the city.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The man is described as: brown skinned, slim build, between 30 to 40 years of age with an unshaven appearance. He was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, black beanie, black sneakers with a yellow and brown scarf around his neck.
