ANONYMITY AND REPORT HANDLING
Crime Stoppers Western Australia’s (CSWA) reporting platforms are designed to support anonymous reporting and secure communication.
Reports submitted through the platform are directed to authorised personnel within the organisation or agency responsible for receiving and managing the report. CSWA provides and supports the reporting platform infrastructure and is not the investigating authority or operational decision-maker in relation to the matters reported through the platforms.
Users are not required to provide their name, contact details, or identifying information when making a report.
CSWA incorporates privacy-focused technologies and operational controls, including use of the Tor network and privacy-by-design principles, intended to support anonymous reporting and minimise the collection, retention, and exposure of identifying information wherever reasonably possible.
Users should be aware that identifying information may be intentionally or unintentionally included within reports, messages, attachments, screenshots, documents, images, or other uploaded material. Where identifying information is provided, whether voluntarily or inadvertently, the report can no longer reasonably be regarded as anonymous and will instead be treated confidentially in accordance with the applicable privacy, security, governance, and legal obligations of the receiving organisation or authorised agency responsible for managing the report.
While CSWA takes reasonable steps to support anonymous reporting and protect information handled through the platform, no internet-based system or electronic transmission method can be guaranteed to be entirely free from risk.
