Around 8am on Wednesday 12 September 2018, a man secured his bicycle with a lock in the basement area of his work building on St Georges Terrace in Perth. As he walked out, he noticed a man standing nearby with his back to him, this prompted him to ensure the door leading to the bike area was locked.
Around 15 minutes later, the man who had been seen earlier, was able to enter the area by unknown means where the bike was and used a set of bolt cutters from a backpack he was carrying, to cut through the lock and remove the bicycle (valued at more than $5,000). He then rode out of the basement and away from the building.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.
The man is described as: Fair skinned, medium build, wearing glasses, a chequered black and white hooded jacket, dark top underneath and dark long pants. He was carrying a blue backpack.
Police have since located the bicycle as it was left behind after a robbery on another man in Gosnells several days later. The man involved in the robbery has since been charged, however the identity of the man who stole the bicycle is still unknown.
