We work in close partnership with police but are separate organisations. Crime Stoppers provides the safe, secure reporting services which gather information from the public and pass that onto police, government and private agencies for their investigations and intelligence purposes.
Crime Stoppers offers anonymity so you don’t have to provide your personal details and these are not captured or recorded when you make an online report or phone call. Confidentiality is different – that implies that we know who you are or can find out.
We are a not-for-profit community organisation and registered charity, not a department of the WA Police Force. This independent status allows us to provide anonymous reporting services and operate with other Crime Stoppers jurisdictions around Australia.
You are the eyes and ears in our communities and know when something doesn’t feel right. Police can’t be everywhere all of the time, but act on the information which comes into Crime Stoppers.
Since 1995 we have proudly partnered with the community, the WA Police Force, media and other government agencies. There is a close connection between all these stakeholders who work together to help reduce, prevent, disrupt and solve crime.
We are part of Crime Stoppers Australia which includes the other 7 states & territories. We collaborate on national campaigns and initiatives and are also included in the global network of Crime Stoppers International.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
The artwork titled ‘Working Together’ represents the Aboriginal tribes of Western Australia working together in harmony to rejuvenate the land by controlled fires.
In this artwork it also represents our community today working together to keep our neighbourhood safe from crime.
