At around 10.25am on Saturday 4 January 2025, the victim and her children entered a public toilet on The Esplanade in Scarborough. The victim saw a woman crying whilst brushing her hair at the mirror and asked if she was okay. The woman became verbally aggressive towards the victim. When the victim turned around and ushered her children out of the toilet, the woman struck the back of the victim’s head with a hairbrush. She was struck multiple times in the head before people intervened.

Police have released CCTV images of the woman who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The woman is described as: light skinned, average build with long dark hair. She was wearing a grey top, black yoga pants, barefoot and was carrying her black sneakers.
