At around 12.10pm on Friday 29 September 2023, two friends were sitting on a train travelling towards the city on the Thornlie Line in Burswood, when a woman sitting alone opposite the friends became verbally abusive towards them. The woman suddenly stood up and approached the one friend and punched her in the face. The other friend stood up to intervene but was shoved backwards by the woman before the woman walked away.

Police have released CCTV images of a woman who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The woman is described as: light skinned, medium build, between 20 to 30 years of age with brown hair tied up into a small pony tail. She was wearing a black long sleeved shirt, black shorts over black trousers with black and white sneakers, and was carrying a white shoulder bag.
