At around 6.00am on Monday 24 May 2021, the victim was walking on William Street in Perth. A woman walking in the opposite direction suddenly stepped in front of the victim and held up a deodorant can, spraying it towards the victim’s face and igniting the spray with a lighter, causing a blast of flame to the side of the victim’s face.

The victim ran away from the woman who pursued the victim and continued to ignite the spray from the deodorant can at the victim. Only when the victim ran across the road did the woman stop chasing the victim and walk off. The woman was unknown to the victim and fortunately the victim did not receive any burns from the flame.

Police have released a CCTV image of a woman who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.

The woman is described as: tanned skin with a medium build. She was wearing a blue jacket with a black hoodie with beige trousers.
