At around 8:40pm on Saturday 11 November 2023, a man was seen approaching the Eternal Flame at Kings Park. The man began to pick up wreaths that had been placed around the shrine for Remembrance Day and threw them onto the flame. When witnesses asked him to stop he told them to go away and continued throwing wreaths onto the fire until he extinguished the flame.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The man is described as: tanned skinned, medium build, between 30 to 40 years of age with long dark hair and facial hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants and was carrying a bag.
