At around 6.30pm on Wednesday 15 November 2023, the victim met up with a man outside a restaurant on Napolean Street in Cottesloe to purchase a brand-new Samsung S23 Ultra mobile advertised on Facebook Marketplace for $1150. The victim paid the man cash in exchange for the mobile. The victim took the mobile to a Samsung store and was advised the mobile was fake, as well as the details on the online order provided by the man to the victim.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The man is described as: light skinned, slim build, between 20 to 25 years of age with dark brown hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt, dark coloured knee length shorts, was barefoot and had a towel around his shoulders.
