BACKGROUND:

Alfonzo PIANO was born in January 1965 and lived in Dianella with his wife. He was described as being outgoing and friendly and had the personality that attracted other people towards him. He was a qualified hairdresser and had run his own hairdressing business.

CASE DETAILS:

On Tuesday 19 July 2005, around 5:30am, Mr PIANO left his home, telling his wife the previous evening he would be going to Welshpool on business and would return before she got out of bed. Mr PIANO left home in his dark green Toyota Land Cruiser four-wheel drive vehicle.

Around 6:45am, a witness saw a dark coloured Landcruiser parked on Luisini Road Wangara, the vehicle was parked partially on the roadway, thirty metres from the Hartman Road intersection. Witness noted at the time there appeared to be a hat on the roadway on the driver’s side of the vehicle and a person seated in the vehicle.

LOCATED DECEASED:

A short time later, a further witness saw the four wheel drive on the side of Luisini Road. At about 9.00am the same witness drove past the vehicle, stopped and on inspecting the vehicle saw Mr PIANO, deceased, in the driver’s seat.

Investigations revealed that he had been shot.

The person or persons responsible for Mr PIANO’s murder have not yet been identified.
