At around 2.40am on Monday 11 September 2023, the victim exited a licensed venue on Stirling Highway in Claremont and walked to his friend’s car in the car park to wait for his friend. The victim was suddenly surrounded by a group of men, some who were wearing black balaclavas. Two of the men each pulled out a knife and he was told to get down on his knees, before he was punched and kicked to the ground. One of the men took the victim’s mobile from him and waved it in his face before they all ran off.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The man is described as: tan skinned, slim build, between 20 to 25 years of age with a thin moustache. He was wearing a black shirt, brown pants, black shoes, a black cap on top of a black balaclava, a blue medical cast on his left arm and carried a small black shoulder bag.
