Around 11am, a man entered a department store on Bayview Terrace Claremont. He walked around the store, selecting numerous items of clothing from the racks before running out of the store without paying for them.
The retails cost of the clothing is in excess of $1,000.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.
The man is described as: Light skinned, thin build with brown shoulder length hair tied back. He was wearing a grey t-shirt and black shorts. He has numerous tattoos on his arms and legs.
