Across WA and around Australia, our illegal firearms campaign increased awareness, education and action towards ‘no illegal guns’.
In WA, since the campaign began in July 2021, over 3,200 firearms & parts and over 81,000 rounds of ammunition have been surrendered or seized by police (to 31 Dec 2022).
That represents a significant reduction in the potential for firearms-related harm in the community.
The campaign involved a permanent amnesty to hand in unregistered or illegal firearms followed by a message to the public to ‘say something before it’s too late’ and report any illegal or unregistered firearms to Crime Stoppers or police.
