At around 3pm on Tuesday 8 September 2020 a man entered a supermarket on Grand Promenade in Dianella. The man placed a bag of shopping on the check out counter and requested multiple cartons of cigarettes. As requested the staff member provided the man an eight pack and 40 pack of cigarettes.
The man requested a subsequent item and while the staff member was retrieving it, he put the cigarettes into his pants without being seen. The man has then claimed that he has left his money in his vehicle and left to retrieve it.
At this point the staff member has realised the cigarettes were no longer with his other shopping. The staff member saw the man get into a grey coloured sedan in the car park and leave the area.
Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.
The man is described as: light skinned, heavy build with short brown hair. He wore a black hooded jumper with white markings.
