Specialist Arson Squad officers continue to seek the public’s assistance for information in relation to a house fire that occurred in Midvale on Saturday, 9 August 2025. 

About 2am, WA Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) responded to reports of a fire at a residence on Wellarton Street.

A group of approximately five people were seen in the area around the time of the fire, and it is believed one person in the group threw a Molotov cocktail type item through a bedroom window of the home, igniting furnishings.

A woman and three children were sleeping in the room at the time.  One child sustained minor burns and received medical treatment. 

The group was last seen running down Wellarton Street.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
