Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Section are pursuing new lines of inquiry in their investigation into a cold case involving the death of a 28-year-old man in a hit-and-run in 1991.

Sometime between 4.00am and 4.54am on 7 April 1991, Mark Edward GREGORY was walking east along Mercer Road in Walmsley after leaving a party when he was struck by an unknown vehicle between Towereroo Road and Lower King Road.

The driver failed to stop and fled the scene. Mr GREGORY sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver responsible has never been identified. However, a recent review of the original investigation has identified a number of new investigative opportunities.

Investigators are reviewing historical Crime Stoppers reports, previous media coverage and earlier investigative material, including several letters received over the years by police and Mr GREGORY’S family.

Detectives are appealing to the author or authors of these letters pictured to contact police, as they may have additional information that can assist with their investigation.

Anyone with any information in relation to this case can make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au or by calling 1800 333 000.

Reports made to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous.
