At around 3.20pm on Wednesday 12 May 2021, a traffic warden was standing in the middle of Broadway in Nedlands controlling traffic for school children crossing the road.

The traffic warden noticed a male person standing on the footpath staring at her for a few minutes. When some of the children arrived on the footpath to cross the road, the traffic warden raised her crossing flags to stop approaching vehicles. The man then crossed the road with the children and as he approached the traffic warden in the middle of the road, he was seen shaking a container before spraying unknown fluid over the traffic warden.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.

The man is described as: light skinned, between 30 to 40 years of age, medium build with short dark brown hair and an unshaven appearance. He was wearing a backpack on his back and a second backpack on his front.
