UPDATE: A 34 year old man from Mount Magnet has been charged with Assault Public Officer and Being Armed in a Way that may cause Fear in relation to this incident. He was charged with a further 38 offences including aggravated burglary, steal motor vehicle, frauds and possession of stolen property. He was identified through Crime Stoppers!! Thank you! 

Around 12.30pm on Sunday 14 October 2018, a knock was heard at the front door of a house on Drummond Street Bedford. The occupant of the house was slow to respond and a second, louder knock was heard. As the home occupant got to the front door, they saw a man jump over a side fence of their property into the rear yard.

The same man then walked out of a nearby property and was approached by an off duty police officer who asked him for his name, the man provided a name but was unable to produce any identification. The man was asked to remain until his identity could be verified. The man refused and ran away. He was chased and stopped a short distance away, turning to the off duty officer and pulled out a bladed weapon making threats towards the officer. The man was last seen running along Walter Road West towards Morley.

Police have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.

The man is described as: Light brown skinned, 20-25 years of age, slim/medium build and dark short hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, red hooded jumper and long black pants. He was carrying a backpack.
