At around 5.15pm on Saturday 16 March 2024, the victim who is a security officer, stopped a man riding his bicycle inside a shopping centre on West Coast Highway in Scarborough. The victim advised the man the shopping centre was closed and that he needed to leave the centre. The man put his bicycle down and without warning punched the victim to the side of his face before exiting the centre and riding away.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The man is described as: tan skinned, slim build, between 40 to 50 years of age with collar length light coloured hair, a small goatee, moustache and tattoo visible on his upper right arm. He was wearing a black and yellow singlet, black shorts, black sneakers, black cap and was carrying a black cap.
