Belmont Police are investigating an unusual event that occurred around 3am on Sunday 14 June 2020.

A man and a dog were in the car park of a shopping centre on Wright Street Cloverdale. The man hopped into an empty shopping trolley and headed down a ramp. The problem was that at the end of that ramp was a metal security gate.

As the trolley headed down the ramp, it gained speed until it collided heavily into the security gate causing around $3,500 worth of damage. We believe the man inside the trolley was uninjured as he and the dog left the area immediately afterwards.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.

The man in the trolley is described as: Light skinned, medium build and short brown hair. He was wearing a grey, white and black jacket and long dark pants.

We have also included an image of the dog who was seen with the men.

If you have any information about the identity of this man or details of this offence please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au. You can remain anonymous if you wish and rewards are available once charges are laid.   Please quote Reference Number 9720
