At around 5.00am on Friday 29 December 2023, the victim who was sleeping it rough on an open grassed area on Francis Street in Perth near the State Library, woke up to find the pocket on his jacket had been cut open and his wallet and mobile phone stolen. The victim did not wake up to any disturbance during the night.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The man is described as: brown skinned, slim build, between 35 to 45 years of age with an unshaven appearance. He was wearing a light-coloured jacket over a red and black shirt, black shorts, black joggers with a black cap and was carrying a black bag.
