At around 7.00pm on Friday 12 January 2024, the victim boarded a train at the Claremont train station on Gugeri Street in Claremont. As the train left the station the victim realised he had left his backpack on the platform bench. After it was reported at the next station, CCTV showed a man pick up the victim’s backpack soon after it was left by the victim, and walk off with it. Five fraudulent purchases were made using a bank card from inside the backpack.
Police have released CCTV images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
The man is described as: light skinned, medium build, between 30 to 40 years of age with short brown hair and an unshaven appearance. He was wearing a white ‘Everlast’ t-shirt, black trousers with red slides.
